Dry Dock On The Llangollen Canal

We operate 2 DIY sheds as dry docks that you can hire on a weekly basis from Tuesday to Tuesday to work on your own boat. Both sheds accommodate your narrowboat under cover and are complete with lighting and 16 amp power outlets. Boats sit safely on blocks so that the work can be carried out at a convenient height.

An advantage in using one of the DIY sheds over a traditional dry dock is that paint cures more quickly in a lower moisture environment.

Note: Due to the popularity of the DIY sheds we recommend booking well in advance. For further information, please get in touch with Mandy at Swanley Bridge Marina on 01270 524571.

How Often Should The Hull Be Blacked?

There are many opinions as to how often and how much of the hull should be blacked. To keep your boat in prime condition we recommend blacking every two years. This will ensure that your narrowboat’s hull remains in pristine condition and that corrosion does not take hold reducing the thickness of the bottom plates.

Shot Blasting In Cheshire

Every ten years it would be beneficial to shot blast the hull before blacking. We offer a wide range of servicing and repairs for your narrowboat, including hull blacking, engine installations and plumbing.
