Shropshire Union

The Shropshire Union Canal links the Midlands, Wales and North West together with 66 miles of waterway. Starting in Wolverhampton, the Shropshire Union Canal runs through Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire until it reaches its end point at the Manchester ship canal in Ellesmere port.

As you work your way along the canal you will pass through a number of major towns and cities, with links to Birmingham, Shrewsbury, Whitchurch, Chester, Middlewich, Liverpool and a large number of local towns and villages, there really is a bit of everything on this journey.

As you cruise this canal you will find yourself in some of the most unpopulated parts of the country. You can go from a large city to complete countryside silence in just a few hours, making this canal a very unique and special experience.
