A 3 night return cruise to the local market town of Whitchurch is a must do for all moorers at Swanley Bridge Marina. The route passes through some extremely peaceful and unspoilt countryside along the way. Taking you through a number of small villages such as Wrenbury, home of the Dusty Miller pub, Marbury, home of the recently renovated Swan pub and Grindley brook.

As you may know Grindley Brook has 6 locks! The last 3 of which are staircase locks with a lock keeper on hand to help you if you require it. There is also a popular canal side cafe at Grindley Brook which serves a selection of food and drink. There is also a very good pub just a short walk form the canal called The Horse and Jockey.

When you arrive in Whitchurch a short 15 minute walk along the Sandstone Trail will take you into the town centre, here you will find a number of local shops, bakeries, coffee shops, pubs and supermarkets. Whitchurch also hosts its very own Makers Market on the first Saturday of each month, where a number of stands are set up with local produce, gifts, paintings and much more.

Whitchurch is also plays host to the yearly Blackberry Fair. This is a great weekend in Whitchurch that involves all sorts of fun activities within the town centre and is definitely worth a visit!
