Time flies when you are enjoying yourself! It seems that our last bulletin was but yesterday but we were advertising our Christmas Dinner then.
The weather was not kind that day, but a number of volunteers made their way to the Cheshire Cat. Wendy Capelle and Neville Preece were there giving us the chance to thank them both and wish them well in their retirement.
The January work party was scheduled for the 25th and 26th at Marsh Lane,… Nantwich. The weather was inclement on the first afternoon but made up for itself on the second day, which turned out to be glorious.
The work involved re-building the access steps at Bridge 90 as these are really busy now that many houses have been built nearby.
The work was almost complete but had to be extended due to and incomplete delivery of gravel which meant a few volunteers returning on the Monday in the rain! We are very grateful to them.
There is a limit to how many volunteers can work on a flight of steps, so some volunteers went off litter picking. On the Thursday the stretch from Calveley southward was cleared and the towpath and surroundings from Nantwich Canal Centre to Bridge 90 was dealt with on the Friday. There were several bags of rubbish which fortunately the CR&T dealt with.
STTV is working in partnership with the Canal and River Trust, North Wales and Borders Waterways.
