LEAVES BLOWING

Pumpkins and candles and soft misty mornings,

hot soups and firelight and Autumn leaves falling,

wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings,

these are a few of my favourite things…(to paraphrase Julie in The Sound of Music)

Yes, the sound, smell and taste of Autumn is truly here and we’re asking all our nature-loving Moorers to pick up their cameras; recorders; paints or pens and capture the landscape and wildlife in all its glowing glory. We’d love to see your photos, or read your stories, about what you see, hear and experience when you’re out and about cruising the canals or walking in the countryside, all you need to do is email them to us at www.sales@swanleybridgemarina.com

And don’t forget #Autumnwatch is starting on Monday 23 October BBC2. You can also tweet your photos to http://bbc.co.uk/autumnwatch

Another key date to remember is Andy’s Quiz Night @swanleybridgemarina on Tuesday 31st October – Ooooooh, scary – we dare you to come and see what  devilishly difficult questions he’ll serve up to make us bang our heads on the clip boards! There will be nibbles to eat…eye of newt, wing of bat, legs of several frogs, not forgetting the vegetarian option – Michael’s piquant soup de jour – Silage Soup! For those of a nervous disposition, don’t worry, Doug’Hund Mac-Thor will be the ghostbuster on the door, protecting us all from any gate crashing ghouls & demons who may be cruising the canals that night.

A quick update on our #Macmillan fundraising coffee morning & sponsor a calf scheme plus raffle for a free engine service, these will remain open until the end of the month, so there’s still time to buy tickets. So far it looks as if we’ll break our target of £500, so a BIG thank you to everyone who has donated to this great cause.

IMPORTANT REMINDER…CLOCKS GO BACK & BRITISH SUMMERTIME ENDS 29 OCTOBER – this means the marina changes to Winter Opening Times: Mon – Sat 9am – 4pm; Sun 10am – 4pm and pumpout/diesel services finish at 3.30pm on all days.

As the nights draw in and temperatures begin to fall, we thought this would be a good time to introduce some comfort food…

So until next time, enjoy all that Autumn has to offer.
